Francine Hardaway: Anti-Aging and Cosmetic Treatments Evaluated by Users

I am constantly confronted by the lack of good, consumer-generated health information for women. Just last week, when I blogged about my cataract surgery, I got responses from all over the world telling me that they were forwarding my entry to fathers, mothers, uncles, friends, etc. The same thing happened with my hip replacement blog, which is still out there helping people who want to know what to expect from that surgery.

Well, now I have found something else! RealSelf is a site that gives user-generated information and ratings about anti-aging and cosmetic surgery procedures. You can go there and read other people’s experiences of things you might want to try, like Juvederm, or a tummy tuck. I am always looking for non-invasive treatments, so of course I have thought about Lipodissolve. Not anymore. It’s among the last satisfying of procedures, according to RealSelf. Only 37% of the people who had it thought it was worthwhile.

Okay. I know WE are focused on heart disease, PPD, Thyroid, Osteoporosis, and other really important things. But I think the others account for quite a bit of discretionary spending, and sometimes produce unforseen complications. So I think it’s worthwhile for the women who visit EmpowHer to get this kind of information as well.
