There is multible issues with my case including hormonal imbalance since early 20's, Family with history of Alcoholism, weight gain in the mid section, Mood swings daily and weekly... abuse in early and mid childhood. In my opinion with that as a back ground my Doctor should have been more detailed into my specific case.. not just blanket me with Progesterone cream or a Anti Depression Medication.. Please advise..

Progesterone cream for PCOS, PMS, PPD, Menopause or other?

Hi! Thanks so much for your question! I think we could all agree that your medical doctor ideally would ask more about your family history, medical history and treat you as a "whole" person and not just the symptoms you presented. You mentioned that you were prescribed progesterone cream, and from my understanding, there are many reasons that you may have been given this, which include symptoms and/or diagnosis of PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome), PMS, PPD (post partum depression), menopause or other reasons. You also mentioned that you were prescribed some medication for depression; is this the progesterone cream? Is your depression related to pregnancy or birth of a child? I hope we hear back from you soon! It sounds like you are very frustrated with the care you received. There are physicians who spend more time with their patients, and get to know the patient as a person, and are interested (and capable) of talking about the emotional, mental, social, relational and spiritual aspects of your life---not just the physical! Have you asked other women in your area if they have a doctor they would recommend? Please know that you are your own best advocate, and we are here to support you! Write us back soon and tell us more, so we can help find out information and/or help you find a doctor who is more responsive to your needs.

I agree that finding a doctor that is more responsive to your needs is important. I also live in the Phoenix area (Scottsdale) and go to a Top 100 doctor in womens health. Her name is Dr. Deborah Wilson, gynecologist at 89th and Desert Cove in Scottsdale. She also has Dr. Simone (who I see) and Dr. Speildoch. I see her for my normal woman's care and bioidentical hormone pellets which are implanted in my hip.

I hope I'm not breaking any rules giving the name. But since Alison said they could possibly help find a doctor, I took a chance.

The reason I specify 89th and Desert Cove, is there is a Dr. Deborah Wilson who is a urologist that has an office about 1-2 miles away.

I'll be glad to answer any more questions.

Regards,
Nancy
