I would love to get lasik surgery on my eyes. My husband and a good friend have each had it done, with very good results. However, they were farsighted, and I am nearsighted. I understand that the process works better on farsighted people. Is this true?
I am an artist and my near vision is very important to me. I'd love to be able to see in the distance without contacts or glasses, but I'd hate it if I hurt my perfect near vision in the process. Does anyone have any information or personal experience with this?

With the news that the FDA wants to study or, perhaps, recall cold remedies for children, I'm wondering if there are moms who have had success with natural remedies?
(Other than chicken soup, of course, which is always on my list!)
Since we're back to school now and headed into the winter, any natural and safe remedies for runny noses, sniffles, coughs and congestion would be very much appreciated.

My MIL just told us last night that she has a "lazy eye", and has had it since she was 8 years old (she is in her late 60s now). The doctor gave her a "prism" placed on one lens of her eyeglasses, which looks like a film that makes one eye "work harder" to see through it.
What exactly is "lazy eye", and what is the technical term? I assume there are different degrees of this, as no one knew she had it. (Her diabetes may be making it worse, which is why it is just now being treated?).
Would love to find more info about this, and hear others' experiences.
thanks!

Can you help me understand the differences between a cold virus and flu virus? And, when should I go to the doctor or just treat it at home? I was trying to look up my symptoms, and got confused, and also saw there was a third possibility: NSV (non specific virus). What exactly is that?!
Thanks!

Why do eyes twitch? My left eye has been twitching on and off for the last two months and I have no idea why. It feels fine, no discharges or weird colors and I am seeing fine and it twitches when I'm well-rested as well as tired. In other words, I can't seem to find a reason why it twitches!
Has anyone else experienced twitches and does anyone know why they happen?

My friend's daughter is having tubes put into her ears. What is this for? Is it painful, and how long are these tubes in place?

Hello there! Does anyone know of a good ophthalmologist in the Phoenix, AZ area? My endocrinologist suggested I get a full eye exam but I'm not familiar with any eye docs. Thanks!!

I've heard more than once that adults who have frequent illnesses (like colds and infections) may want to think about getting their tonsils removed. Is there any validity to this?

I have a question - how 'normal' is it to get bloody noses?
My husband get one about once or twice a week and sometimes when he is sleeping - because I often see drops of blood on his pillow case. Our home is well ventilated and we have a central humidifier that works well.
Any ideas or thoughts?

I am seeing and hearing a lot about ear candling, and have seen this service advertised in beauty salons! Som people love it and claim to feel better after having it done.
