Karine explains if alcoholic beverages worsen her asthmatic condition.
Alcohol doesn’t trigger an asthma attack directly, but alcohol, as it does for everybody, kind of slows and suppresses your immune system. And so it puts me in a position where I can be more likely to have an asthma attack if other factors are involved. Like if I have been drinking and I do something strenuous, I am going to be a lot more inclined to have an asthmatic response. The alcohol itself doesn’t trigger it; it just creates a situation in which it’s easier to have a trigger.
