Atrial fibrillation is an abnormal heart rhythm. It is the most common abnormal heart rhythm or arrhythmia. It is a very chaotic type of rhythm in the atrium that keeps it from beating and contracting like it normally would and disrupts the ability of the heart to function at its full capacity.
