Bariatric Surgery Diet: What Will A Woman Eat After Surgery? - Dr. Podkameni

Dr. Podkameni:
You are going to go on a restrictive calorie diet, especially in the beginning so we can maximize your weight loss, but the objective here is not to have anyone starving after having surgery.

Right after the procedure you are going to be on a protein shake diet, but then two weeks right after that we are going to start increasing your diet to a more regular diet and after that, we are going to keep you on a regular diet as long as it’s a healthy diet with healthy choices.

To be successful you have to follow not a very specific diet. As long as it’s a healthy diet the portions are going to be controlled – that’s the important part, but you can eat some of healthy foods, some of the good foods and that’s one of the things that our program do is to try with you to find the right path for you to choose the food that is correct.

Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Dr. Podkameni started his general surgery training at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York in 1996. He then returned to Brazil, where he became board certified in general and pediatric surgery. Dr. Podkameni finished his minimally invasive/laparoscopy training at the Cleveland Clinic in 2004. He serves as medical director of the Banner Gateway Bariatric Center. Dr. Podkameni specializes in Bariatric Surgery and General Surgery.
