Cheri provides three tips for women on how to have a successful bariatric surgery experience.
Cheri:
Ladies, I want you to be successful just like I have been. It’s not an easy road to go down, but we are not alone, and I’d like to give you three tips on what’s helped make me successful. One is that I found the correct surgeon. I found the man that could get the job done and that was Dr. Dahiya and his team, and it’s important for you to be able to have that asset.
Two, I had nutritional support. I knew that because everything was different inside of me, I had to have special support. I sought that out and was able to be healthy in a very relative short period of time. I highly recommend you finding a nutritionist and being that can support you, that knows what a gastric bypass patient goes through. It’s not an easy thing for us to do, but we have to take vitamins and we take our minerals, and it’s important for our daily health that we take care of ourselves.
The third thing is, I know sometimes we don’t want to exercise, but exercise to me is the third tip, and get the body moving. It’s okay to get moving and shaking and dancing, and I have a bike that I ride. I have dogs that I walk, and I swim. I love doing things; keep active. Don’t be alone. Keep your friends, your family around, and get busy. Have a life, it’s about time.
And those are the three tips that will make you a very successful bariatric patient, and I wish you all luck.
