Dr. Dahiya:

LAP-BAND® is a procedure that we keep the gastrointestinal tract in continuity and we are putting a, just in the simplest term, we can call it noose that can be adjusted or we can call lasso at the very upper part of the stomach that kind of divides the stomach in two: a little tiny upper part and the rest of it below.

Since we have not cut, we have not separated, we have just put that noose, that needs to adjust to a point that my liquids should go freely, but my solid meal has to stay for a little bit. If it doesn’t stay and if it just falls, then I am back to like I was and I have no way of knowing when am I full, and I am going to be having my full meals.

So the adjustments are needed for that purpose that the solid meal makes us stay, makes you feel full like a regular meal.
