Listen, as Vanessa shares if the gastric bypass surgery and recovery were painful.
Vanessa:
The surgery itself was painful, but you know, you’re on medication. I think it is just a cloudy couple of days. I was in the hospital for three days. The surgery itself, I don’t remember it. I just remember they rolled me in. I remember they played the Paul Abdul’s song, “Opposites Attract” and I was knocked out. And that’s all I remember, and when I woke up, I was like, “Oh my gosh, that’s it? I did it?” and I didn’t feel anything. I guess I was on so much meds I was thinking more about the surgery than the pain.
The three days at the hospital, it’s really hard to remember. I think even when I got home I was like, “Wow, I can’t believe I did it.” Even for the first week I was like, “I can’t believe I did it,” and I wasn’t in pain. It was more like you are uncomfortable just because you are gassy in the beginning, but as far as pain, on a scale of 1 to 10, I would say maybe like a 5 or a 6. It wasn’t that bad. I think what was more painful was having to let go of that part of my life. I think emotionally it was more painful than physically.
