Multiple myeloma is a common disorder that occurs in the skeleton. It is an abnormality of cells that are present in our bone marrow whose job it is to make substances that our immune system require to fight off infections, etcetera. And multiple myeloma can occur in a solitary area, which case we call it a plasmacytoma, or it can occur all at once in a number of different areas. That’s a different situation than someone who has lung cancer,and it’s spread to multiple different parts of the bone. Multiple myeloma is something that can occur in a number of different areas all at once.
