Watch as Dr. Harness explains what a woman should do if her doctor says,"Oh dear, you have nothing to worry about," after her mammogram results. Dr. Jay Harness is the former President of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
Saying, “Oh dear, you have nothing to worry about,” is not a final answer. If you know there is something there, then go to the next level of care, which is typically to a breast surgeon. The breast surgeon, like myself, may combine doing their own ultrasound examination, with the physical examination, with the imaging studies. Now interestingly, a lot of the times those kinds of lumps that are palpated in the breast are just irregular parts of the breasts that are more prominent, but it often takes the breast surgeon to really put those pieces of the puzzle together in order to reassure you, but go to the next level of care is really the bottom line.
