Another Round of Chemo, Despite Nausea

Yesterday I was scheduled to do chemo. When I got to CTCA and told the doctor again how sick I still was, he wanted to hold off until I had a couple of tests done.

Taxotere is not known for making people this sick, so he wanted to test my brain to see if the cancer had spread there or to examine my digestive system to see if there is any blockage. The MRI was first. I had them give me a sedative because I get claustrophobic in the small tube.

Thankfully, there is no sign of cancer in the brain as of right now. We did x-rays on my stomach and there is no blockage there either. So it looks like I will be doing chemo today. He said we could try a lower dosage and also incorporate Emmend with it as well (anti nausea medicine). There are a couple of other chemos that we could try that are in the same family as the Taxotere, but he said that these have not proven as effective and there is no qualified study saying that the other taxane based drugs work.

It sounded like he really wanted me to do one more round of the Taxotere and then we will be doing a Petscan to see the progression. I just hope I don’t feel as crappy this go around. My hair is still coming out at an alarming rate so we went to the salon at CTCA to try in wigs. I did find one that was suitable. It needs to be cut down, thinned out and styled. This wig will look better than my own hair!
