Pay Office Visit Just to Meet Doctor for First Time?

I am wondering if this has happened to anyone else with your insurance company/doctor office, and if you even DO this in the first place! In my search for a new pediatrician for my son (we just moved across-the-country a few months ago), I wanted to meet with his potential pediatrician first, before committing to him/her.

ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- At some point during last month's well-baby checkup for her son Isaac, Kamila McGinnis stopped listening to her pediatrician.

Isaac, who turns 3 in June, hasn't shown much interest in toilet training. McGinnis wants him out of diapers and encourages him to use the potty. But, she says, her pediatrician told her to back off.

The other day my mother-in-law phoned. She sounded distressed and needed someone to take her to the doctors. Her knee was badly swollen - and she could barely walk. She had somehow injured it - she wasn't quite sure how. I work from home so I have the flexibility to put work on hold and take her in. We went to an urgent care clinic that specializes in bones and muscles.
