TUESDAY, July 8 (HealthDay News) -- A new sweet treat that actually prevents children's cavities should please children and their parents, researchers say.
The tasty syrup, which contains the sugar substitute xylitol, prevented early decay in infants' teeth and may play a role in protecting permanent teeth, says a team from the United States and the Marshall Islands, in the South Pacific.
Xylitol has long been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and is already found in food products such as chewing gum.

12% of all our babies will be born prematurely!
Everyone has always known someone who had a preemie (a baby born prior to 37 weeks in the womb) but at this rate, we all know a lot of someones! The Center for Disease Control studied 7 million babies over a decade, in an effort to understand why so many babies are born prematurely and any adverse affects they may experience.
Let's not forget that in most cases a preemie baby is not anyone's fault and in most instances there is nothing that could be done!

MONDAY, Feb. 4 (HealthDay News) -- While a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, a new study shows it may also ease the pain of vaccinations.
And experts are hoping that a simple sugar-and-water solution will also ease parents' fears and boost immunization rates for infants.
