Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Vertigo: Starting Over Once Again

In the spring of 2005, I was recovering from chronic fatigue syndrome-induced vertigo. A few months before, I thought I was having a stroke.

I couldn't drive and I couldn't walk very far. I was restless and needed the fresh air and sun. I especially needed to see something that was not the inside of my house.

We live in a nice, quiet subdivision, but the problem was it took me 10 minutes just to get to the outskirts. And if all I could handle was a 20 minute walk -- Well! Do the math, right? I was never going to get out of this neighborhood. And the claustrophobia was suffocating me. I needed OUT of here.

Alan said he would drive me to whatever part of town I wanted so I could go for a 20 minute walk. He would go do his errands or shopping, or just go for a drive, and then he would prowl the streets in the vicinity and pick me up and then drive me back home.

He did this every day that spring. That is to say, every day where the weather was halfway decent, and when I was up to going for a walk.

Is that love, or what?

Over a couple of months, I got steadier and went for longer walks, eventually heading out on my own. I had very little else to do at that time, being pretty much a mental vegetable. I made dinners and took care of the laundry, but Al did everything else. So I had nothin' but time to go for walks in the sun and get ... stronger.

And that's how I spent my summer vacation.

I spent 15 years losing the battle against CFS. Two years ago, I found treatment that worked for me, and now I am making a comeback.

Has any one had a severe case of hives with CFS? I have had hives, off and on, since May of last year.
Within the past 21 days I have had them every day and they have gotten much worse. Covering my body, even in my throat sending me to the ER. Now an allergist has put me on all sorts of medicines. I am still having the hive outbreaks, and I am scared. Anyone have any ideas, or this type of experience?
Thank you

I have CFS and experienced hives everyday for about 3 weeks in November and early December. At the time, I was also experiencing chest pain. The only thing I was doing differently than before was I had started back trying to exercise on the treatmill and walking around Washington, DC. When I stopped exercising both the chest pain and the hives went away.
In February I started exercising again, the chest pain has come back (not as bad as the first time). I hope to someday be able to exercise again.

Hi Anon - I've been able to find a few discussions online between CFS patients about outbreaks of hives. Remedies ranging from anti-histamines to apple cider vinegar have been mentioned. Hopefully others will respond to your post and be able to give you more specific information about this. In the meantime, you may find the EmpowHER reference page on Hives to be helpful.

Thank you, I am currently working on a new website, ItStartsWithUs.org , with a friend. To help others in need and support. We are just putting it together right now, our goal is "paying it forward" to inspire the world to be a better place. I am also working on a bio book, living with Fibro ect. Then I have a romance/entertainment book to work on. So I stay busy.

Cheers!

I live with severe Vertigo as well with Fibromyalgia. I also am a survivor of Ovarian Cancer. I hope you are still doing well on making a comeback. You are very fortunate to have someone help you as much as Alan does.

Cheers!
