I had burning mouth syndrome that leaked from the base of one tooth.
This tooth had a root canal that was done several years ago which had silver points in the root. I had no other pain from the tooth except when I touch my tongue to the base it tasted like hot peppers. The x-rays showed the shaded area at the base of the tooth which the dentist said it was an infection in the bone.

When the tooth was extacted I could taste this red pepper taste tremendously and my throat was on fire. The doctor gave me an antibiotic 2 days later and the symtoms completed went away.

My conclusion is that BMS is an infection in the bone which is not painful. I did not know I had this until the x-ray showed this.
