CompleteCounseling, Anger management seems to be one of those issues that people talk about but some just can’t seem to master. While anger is a normal response, how one expresses anger is really the telltale sign of whether there might be an issue. To help you assess how you express your anger, consider the following questions:

* Do you express anger in a way that overwhelms you and others?
* Do you get angry more often than most people you know?
* Do you get angrier than is necessary?
* Do you use threatening language or gestures?
* Do you get angry enough to hit, throw or kick things, people or animals?
* Do you seethe for hours?
* Do you hide angry feelings from others or try to suppress your feelings?
* Do you use alcohol or drugs to calm your rage?
* Do you experience physical reactions such as muscle tension or a racing heart when you get angry?
* Does expressing your anger usually leave you feeling better about yourself and the person who angered you?

Learning to deal with anger may not only improve the relationships with those around you, but may help you take a big leap toward good health.

Check out this article from Harvard University about how a hostile heart is a vulnerable heart . Some interesting advice? Harvard researchers found that a single low-dose (81 mg) pill can reduce anger-caused heart attacks by 40 percent. In other words, a daily aspirin may cut the risk of breaking an angry heart by almost half.

Had always heard that aspirin was good for the heart, but didn’t realize it was somehow related to anger. Other recommendations include the kinds of things we’ve heard before – meditation and exercise.

Does anyone have any other helpful tips for dealing with anger? Can you remember a time you became angry and maybe overreacted?
