Hello ladies! I'm new to this so please bare with me :)
In 2003 I gave birth to my beautiful daughter at the age of 21 and she was conceived naturally with no underlying issues. My boyfriend at the time (now husband) and I were very happy with our life. We tried to conceive again when our daughter turned 18 months but we were unsuccessful. After about 9 months of active trying, I finally decided to make an appt. with my OBGYN. He did an HSG dye x-ray where he injected radioactive dye into my cervix which in theory should show whether or not my tubes were open and my uterus didn't have any abnormalities in it. although my uterus looked normal, my tubes were completely blocked! It was then that I found out that I not only have PCOS (diagnosed at 14 years old) but that I also had Endometriosis and because of that, my tubes were affected negatively. Well, my husband and I were completely heartbroken. Both tubes were filled with toxic fluid and expanded beyond belief! My OBGYN called this a Hydrosalpinx. Needless to say, he told me that both my tubes would need to be removed in order to become pregnant again - through IVF only. Long story short - we went through an IVF cycle in July of 2007. It failed. We haven't been able to afford another cycle as it cost us upwards of $10,000 and it's not in any way funded so we payed out of our own pockets...
I have read here that there are women who have experienced pregnancies conceived naturally but I have such a hard time believing how that's possible when there's no tubes for fertilizing to take place?!?! I want to believe it's possible - that anything's possible! - but it's definitely easier said than done. Thanks for allowing me to share my unfortunate story with you all... it feels better to talk about it, finally! Good luck to all of you!!
