My wife got the mirena and she had similar symptoms of pain during sex. Several visits back to the OB-GYN during which ultrasounds all showed correct insertion yielded no answers. She had it removed and the pain went away. The Ob-GYN said about 3% of women have feeling at the cervix, and maybe my wife was one of those 3%.
I don't know for sure, but if it is causing you pain, don't keep it in. There are other methods of contraception available.
