I am considering bio identical hormone treatment by the pellet release system. Has anyone had any experience with this. I am 62 and have been taking Premarin for 12 years until six months ago when I decided it was time to stop. The hot flashes, anxiety and cloudy thinking is horrible. When will all this stop?????
Thanks for any input -- SueHelen

SueHelen, is your primary care doctor or gynecologist concerned that you are still having hot flashes and menopausal symptoms at 62? Has she or he done hormone testing on you since you stopped using the Premarin?

I tried the bioidentical hormones--lots of different formulations. They are a combination of estriol + estradiol. I never did get balanced. I also tried Vivelle Patch, EstroGel, Enjuvia, and Angelique. I am now on Premarin. For the first time, I feel I have my brain back. I still have the abdominal weight gain that I have developed in the last 12 months. I have gained 20 pounds after never having a weight problem, let alone abdominal obesity. I am starting thyroid medication now, after that was tested and found to be deficient. There is a problem with Armour Thyroid being off the market now, so that is a challenge! Best of luck--the only thing I have not tried is the pellets. However, I have heard they can be painful.
