Dear Anon,
Part of being confident enough to go with a doctor's recommendation has to do with your relationship with that doctor. Have you been seeing this doctor long? Do you feel like she is a good communicator and carefully asks about and considers your questions?

Please be sure that before you undergo any procedure, you understand your doctor's reasons for doing it and you've had all your questions answered. Don't feel that you can't take their time -- this is your body, and it's perfectly appropriate to discuss these things in detail. If it makes you nervous, write your questions down before you go, and ask your doctor to go over them with you.
