If you had the option to have your unborn baby tested for over 200 different genetic conditions, would you do it?
The Baylor College of Medicine is promoting a screening process that will determine 200 different genetic conditions from DNA taken from a fetus. You can read the full article here http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/134093.php. Do you think this may cause a higher abortion rate?

There are so many different situations that women are in, including their genetic makeup, any health risks, age, etc, that it is great that these tests are available!
I have opted in the past (and likely in the future) to have only non-invasive tests conducted (beyond blood work), but that is more because I'm a big weiney to needles, and not a "moral" statement! :-)

This is such a sticky issue.... if I were a pregnant woman over 40, I imagine I'd be very tempted to have the testing done. But the problem is if you get a false positive on one or more of the conditions -- can you really trust the test. And then there's also the fact that there are so many conditions and abnormalities that can occur that are not genetic. I went through that situation when I lost one of my twin boys to amniotic banding syndrome, which is not genetic. The thing is, you just never know. There's no guarantee that you're pregnant with a healthy baby, no matter how much testing you do.
