I'm pretty sure I am peri-menopausal, but without going off the depo-provera for 6 months (according to my ob/gyn), there is no way to really test the hormones to be sure. I have talked to my husband a lot about this, because, as I said, his libido is very high. My ob/gyn doesn't know why the bleeding is so bad...I've had laporascopy (to view my ovaries, fallopian tubes and the inside and outside of my uterus) with no concrete results. My options are a uterine-ablation and low-dose birth control (which increases my migraines), or a hysterectomy. My doctor is reluctant to do the ablation because I have increased risk for uterine cancer due to my age, never breast-feeding, never carrying a child to full term and the thickness of my uterine lining. He is also reluctant to do the hysterectomy because my ovaries and fallopian tubes have adhered to my uterus and I am not post-menopausal and because of the amount of recovery time in relation to my physical activity
