Ladies,
Thank you so much for your supportive comments! As a parent, physician, and girl scout leader, I am all about giving our youth all the information they need to create and protect healthy bodies. I wrote my book, Seductive Delusions, out of frustration from seeing so many intelligent, well-educated, "good" kids show up in my office with an STD- often from their first serious boyfriend/girlfriend. They really didn't believe they could catch an STD either (A) from another "upstanding" individual, or (B) through non-coital forms of intimacy. At the same time, they can tell me every detail from the last episode of ER or Grey's Anatomy. I'm hopeful that telling the stories of the patients we see everyday will put a familiar face on STDs in an easy reading, memorable format, so that our kids can absorb an accurate picture about the risks of physical intimacy. Best wishes in educating your kids (and our single friends!)
Sincerely, Jill Grimes, MD
