I was watching the Today show yesterday, and Matt Lauer was interviewing a man who was a little extreme in his suggestions to save money. He provided some good tips ("don't buy new clothes for adults for 6 months, you probably don't need any!"), to a tip that many people could not live without ("cancel cell phone...15 years ago we didn't need them"), to which Matt Lauer mentioned a cell phone is a lifelife for many families, and it has become a necessity.

One suggestion he mentioned, and I have heard many times recently in our current economic crisis, is to stop eating out at restaurants and make meals at home. Sounds easy enough, right?

However, grocery costs have gone up. I have heard of people saving money at the grocery store by buying Ramon noodles and other "college" or "dorm-room" type food. This is not a healthy way to eat.

What are your tips to eat in a healthy manner, and do so in a money-conscious way?

This is such a good topic!! I too could use some advice.... grocery prices seem to be going up, and fast, just like everything else these days. I did happen to drive by a farmer's market a couple of weekends ago and found some great deals on local produce. That rarely happens to me, though. I used to be loyal to one particular grocery store near our neighborhood, but lately I've been shopping the flyers that come in my newspaper and shop wherever I see specials on the stuff my kids and I like to eat.
