Most importantly, I assume this was mutually consensual intercourse? (bleeding could be an indicator of sexual intercourse that was not consensual, so I just want to make sure).
The answer to your question depends on how much you were bleeding. Heavy bleeding after sex is not normal, and you should see your doctor. If there was some slight spotting, this can be normal after "vigorous" intercourse (as long as there was no pain involved, in which case, you would need to tell your partner to slow down or stop).

"Bleeding due to sex is not considered normal but there are times that it might be - specifically if you are having your period - or it starts about the time you are having sex. Vaginal dryness can also cause bleeding but it's not usually heavy, like you say happened to you."
Lastly, some women have slight spotting during their cycle, or have irregular periods, which can also be before/after an expected period is to start. This is still light spotting/bleeding, and can fall within the normal range.
