Keri explains if women recognize that fertility treatments do not guarantee they will get pregnant.
Keri:
I don’t know. I don’t think so. I don’t know if they, I think that they are so probably fixated on wanting to have a child, to conceive a child “of their own,” which personally I don’t understand that, “of your own.” I think that of your own could be adopted or conceived. I think that, you know, and in the end, and I have friends that are struggling with fertility right now that I just see them and they are dishing out tens of thousands of dollars going through these treatments, and in the end, it’s still not a guarantee that you are going to become pregnant.
And, with adoption, you will have a baby. You will get a baby, and the costs are more reasonable, and there is a guarantee in the end that you will have a child, and so many people ask me, "Well, what about the health of a child? You don’t know anything about the parents. There’s all these other unknowns," and I said, "Well, there’s unknowns when you conceive a child too." You don’t know if that child is going to be healthy or not. You hope and pray that they will. It’s the same thing with adopting a baby. They could be healthy, or you could have issues later on in life, just like with your own child that you conceive.
