I have irregular menstrual and after trying for a year we saw a gynae and realised I have been menstruating without ovulation. That's why it's so irregular. The solution is actually very easy. I took clomid for 5 days and on the 10th day we saw the gynae again and he could see the egg formed and told us the dates to try for baby. It's not so stressful as when you try to predict and assess things on your own. Just see a gynae and ask for clomid! Don't take metformin however.. We have had bad experiences with it. Try clomid first
