Dear larowe, I am sorry to read about your health problem. I am sure you cannot wait to resolve it. CFS is one of the most mysterious and controversial conditions. Doctors and medical science in general have not been able to determine what triggers CFS. The good news is that there are many cases of CFS sufferers that have managed to get this condition on permanent remission. You do not mention what type of therapies or treatments you are trying right now or if you are under the care of a physician. Have you tried alternative therapies?

I believe CFS is caused by a combination of multiple factors including viral infections, environmental toxins, and adrenal fatigue or burnout among others which result in a depressed immune system. So focusing on strengthening your immune system is key to recovery, this includes 7-8 hours of sleep, exercise or body movement, healthy diet low in sugars and refined carbs, increase probiotic intake to help the gut recover from yeast overgrowth and stress reduction activities like meditation, yoga, tai-chi, etc.

Here is what I suggest for people experiencing CFS:

1. Vitamin B-Complex - 50 mg twice/day
2. Magnesium - 250 mg 2 or 3 times/day
3. Vitamin B-12 - 2,000 mcg/day. Ask your doctor for injectable
4. DHEA - 5-25 mg daily (with doctor supervision!)
5. CoQ10 - 100mg 2 or 3 times/day
6. Vitamin D - start with 5,000 IU (ask doctor to test levels of this vitamin!)
7. NADH - 10mg on an empty stomach (A study showed that this coenzyme of vitamin B-3 helped reduced CFS symptoms by 30%)

You need to help your body repair, it is hard to guess how long it will take, but it will happen if you commit to nurturing your body back to wellness with good nutrition along with other healthy life style changes as I mentioned above. There is no magic pill but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Make sure to work closely with your doctor. I wish you the best.
