im sorry doesn't viable pregnancy means to be pregnant, so how is that possible if the egg was not fertilized?

You may have misunderstood what Alison was saying.

She was saying that when a fertilized egg implants in the uterus, THAT is a viable pregnancy.

But when you have a period, the lining of the uterus sloughs off and becomes your period, which means at that point there would not BE a viable pregnancy.

In your case, since you had a period, that is a sign that there was no viable pregnancy THEN. That doesn't affect your pregnancy now.

Does that help?

yeah, thats what everyone is telling me, so i guess i should be good and i took the hpt yesterday. i was even thinking about getting a prenatal DNA (im such a nervous wreck!) i just like to clarify things, do you think the doctor could have a more confirmed answer too? sorry to bother im so anxious lol

Definitely talk with your doctor about your situation...that is very important.

Once you have a period, that indicates that you are not pregnant from the previous cycle. Menstrual bleeding means that a fertilized egg was not implanted in your uterus (which would be a viable pregnancy), as the uterine lining is sloughed off during menses.

Any unprotected intercourse you had after your LMP (last menstrual period) could result in a pregnancy.

Does this help?
