Dear Diane,
I'm glad to hear that you are trying to conceive :) This is a tough question because some of your symptoms sound like you may be pregnant and some of them sound like possible side effects of the medications.
If you are pregnant, it was not as a result of your medications. 5 days is not enough time for the medication take effect and for you to show symptoms of pregnancy (such as cravings and increased sex drive). Sometimes, the bleeding that some people think is their period is actually something known as implantation bleeding. Implantation bleeding occurs when an egg has been fertilized and implants into the lining of the uterus. The result of this is usually a small amount of pink to brown blood and normally occurs a few days prior to your expected period.
If you want peace of mind, head to your local drug store and purchase a pregnancy test. They are highly accurate and show immediate results. If you still have concerns, then your doctor can order a blood test for better accuracy.

Here are the more common side effects of both Metformin and Clomiphene Citrate.

Metformin:
feeling short of breath, even with mild exertion;
swelling or rapid weight gain; or
fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms.
Less serious side effects may include:
headache or muscle pain;
weakness; or
mild nausesa, vomiting, diarrhea, gas, stomach pain.

Clomiphene Citrate:
Side effects include:
Abdominal discomfort, enlargement of the ovaries, hot flushes

Good Luck and PLEASE let us know if you have a BIG FAT POSITIVE :D
