Do you usually have regular periods? It does seem odd, as you did not have unprotected intercourse during the typical "most fertile window", but that is not a guarantee of course.
Since your period is late, it would be advised to take a home pregnancy test to rule out a pregnancy as the reason you do not have your period. Some women do have cycles that are really long, for no reason they can pinpoint (no extra stress, no new medications, etc). I would also advise calling your doctor, and ask what they would suggest with having a period that has not started after 39 days.
