May I ask what doctor told you this, and why it was relevant information? Is this a trusted doctor?

It is really strange, actually!

Lupus is an autoimmune disease, which means the immune system attacks the body's healthy cells.

AIDS is an infectious disease from a virus (that has progressed from HIV), and the virus damages the cells within the immune system.

Lupus has unknown causes, is hereditary (in some cases), and is not contagious.

AIDS has a known cause (virus), is not hereditary and IS contagious from person-to-person.

Did your doctor think they are similar because they both have the word "immune system" in the explanation? So do most conditions and diseases of the body...everything from the common cold, stress, cancers...you name it.

Do you have either of these conditions, and/or would you like to learn more about them?
