You should always take a pregnancy test if you've had unprotected sex. Pulling out does not prevent pregnancy because the penis does leak semen during sex, which can result in pregnancy. You shouldn't use your period as a gauge to tell if you're pregnant or not. Semen can survive in the uterus up to five days, and if you already released an egg or happen to release an egg during that five day period you may get pregnant. The egg is typically released 11-14 days after your last period, and is fertile for about 24-48 hours approximately.
My best suggestion is to buy a pregnancy test and some emergency contraceptive (the one I've used before is called "Plan B"). Although it only is effective 3 days after the last time you've had unprotected sex. If you're under the age of 17 you can't buy it at the pharmacy, though you can get a prescription from a doctor or go to the hospital. It costs about $40 (Canadian). Don't wait until your period comes unless you want a chance of getting pregnant.
