Hi Anon,

How regular are your cycles, usually? Are you often a few days late, or are you usually like clockwork?

Do you have a feeling for when you ovulated? Was the unprotected sex right around that time?

Being 7-8 days late is a good indicator that you might be pregnant, but other things can cause that as well. Yes, sickness can be a factor, as can a lot of stress. Anything that affects our hormones can also affect our cycles -- a change in activity, in diet, a weight loss or gain, a change in medicines, and so on.

But you might be pregnant, and just tested too early for the test to pick up any levels of HCG (the pregnancy hormone) in your blood.

If I were you, I would take another test now that you are more than a week late. If it's negative again, I might make an appointment with the doctor's office to make sure that the pain in the lower abdomen and back isn't due to an ovarian cyst, for instance.

Please come back and update us. My fingers are crossed for you!
