Hi, Anon, and welcome to EmpowHer. We're so glad you found us.

Romaji is right. Stress can be ALL you need to throw your period way off track, and with a death in the family and school starting, my guess is that that's exactly what has happened here. Stress (and all large emotions) actually release different hormones into our bodies, and those hormones can affect whether we have a period late, or early, or whether we skip one altogether.

I'm so sorry that you are dealing with so much at one time, especially since you have lost a loved one.

Are you aware of when you ovulate? If so, do you believe that either time you had sex was around when you were ovulating?

Are your cycles usually very regular? Or irregular? If they are irregular, I would not worry about this AT ALL for at least another week.

Since you used a condom both times you had sex, and since I'm assuming you used it correctly and that neither condom broke, I am guessing that you are late simply due to what's been going on around you. If it would help, you can take a home pregnancy test to be sure; since you are seven days late, that is plenty of time for a HPT to be very accurate. Have you considered doing this?

My advice would be to take a HPT just to see what it says. If it is positive, you need to know. If it is negative, then you will be able to relax a little and just wait for your period to come.

Hang in there. And come back and let us know, OK?
