I met yesterday, Sept 10, 2009, with the State Medical Board director and investigator re: my complaint. They were very professional and asked me to tell what happened on my visit to the nephrologist on 9-8-09. I feel like a weight is off my back and that I have done my part. I feel that having someone in the profession know what happened is enough for me. If actions are taken so be it.

I am really branching out. Even with my anxiety issues I was able to accomplish a big vacation by myself. My husband does not enjoy cruises so I went by myself with two girlfriends. My husband went on a golfing vacation with 2 brothers. We both had a great time.
I am usually too anxious to venture far from home alone. But I flew from Phoenix to Philadelphia, changed planes and flew to Montreal where I met my friends for an 11 day autumn adventure cruise from Montreal to New York City. Stayed 2 days in New York. I ventured out from the ship and the hotel just fine. Didn't have to take one anxiety medication the whole time.
Returned to Phoenix last night, my bags had gone to Charleston. Took it in stride. They were found today and are being delivered tonight. Yeah.
My emotional health is returning after the past 6 months of trials. I knew I'd see the light at the end of my issues and I have.
Have a great and healthful day.

Hello Anne!
I have been thinking about you a lot, wondering what would happen as a result of your complaint. I'm so glad that you are happy with the results of the complaint, even though the board's investigative board dismissed it. Knowing that you feel EmpowHered by all of this is fantastic and like you said, the physician will be informed about what bothered you and even though he is not being reprimanded by the board, he might reconsider the way he acts around patients. So with your actions you have helped so many patients and that is a wonderful thing. Thank you for your update! Michelle

Ladies,
I received a reply and results of the Medical Board findings on September 22,2009.
"The Board's investigation staff has thoroughly reviewed the information you provided and does not find a violation of the Medical Practice Act in the Arizona Revised Statutes. Therefore, the Board has dismissed your complaint."
Some of you may wonder whether my filing a complaint was worth it. And I say Yes!! I reported behavior that would be unacceptable to any of us. I feel empowered knowing that the following was accomplished:
1. The doctor was notified in writing of the complaint.
2. The complaint will be in his permanent file forever.
I talked with another doctor friend of mine and he tells me the doctor would have received "a letter of reprimand". My doctor friend also told me that Arizona has a progressive Medical Board, one that is a model for the nation. He said that they work very quickly to resolve these types of complaints and if a doctor is impaired they move in swiftly and get them to treatment.
If any of you are ever in a situation like this, please file a complaint with your states medical board. You may feel embarassed and doubted during the interview, but when you know what has happened to you is the truth keep on going. You not only will make yourself feel empowered you will be helping others to feel empowered too.
Have a healthy and great day.
