Birth control pills can be very effective when taken correctly. The fact that your wife has not only forgotten to take 2 but didn't make up for them the day(s) after they were missed significantly decreases effectiveness therefore making pregnancy possible. I can't tell you if she is or isn't pregnant, but she definitely can be.
