Yes, lower back pain/cramping can be a symptom of many things, including pre-menstrual symptoms, pregnancy or muscle-tension.

Other hormonal changes that can cause symptoms of a menstrual period or pregnancy can also include cramping in the uterus.

Most, if not all, of the early pregnancy signs go unnoticed by women until after they have missed their period; a missed period is usually the first sign of pregnancy. Most women do not experience tell-tale signs of pregnancy until they are much further along (the "symptoms" of pregnancy are too broad at this early stage to know if your body is going through hormonal changes due to the regular ebb-and-flow of your cycle, or if a pregnancy has occurred).

What symptoms are you currently experiencing? I would love to talk with you more about this; I am now 15 weeks pregnant, and just went through the ups-and-downs of the emotional rollercoaster that you are currently experiencing. Is that twinge an early life, or gas!? Is my lower-back aching a pregnancy, or is my period about to start? You can drive yourself bonkers trying to evaluate every small change in your body, and not enjoy the moment you are in now. If you can, wait until you have missed a period before reading into symptoms, and concentrate on eating well, exercising, tracking your periods and cervical mucus (if you choose), and have fun!
