Hi,
When are you expecting your period?

Your symptoms do not sound like early pregnancy symptoms if you have not missed a period (pregnancy symptoms do not usually occur until after a missed period, especially weight gain and cravings...if your period does not begin for another 14 days, then you would not even be pregnant yet and could not have any symptoms. The fertilized egg takes 10-14 days after ovulation to implant into your uterus, about the time of a missed period. The point of implantation is when you are physically pregnant and your body produces "pregnancy hormones" that cause the symptoms...just so you know the quick version how it works!). Your weight gain/bloating and cravings may be hormone-related, and more due to normal fluctuations of your cycle (PMS-related) rather than pregnancy-related.

Please know, however, that you may be pregnant if you are not using the pill with "perfect use", but would not feel symptomatic or be able to test until you miss your period.

If you are not consistently taking your birth control pill, then it is important to use back-up method (condoms), and if you do miss your period this month, you can take a home pregnancy test at that time (any sooner, and the results will not be accurate).

- Brown spotting before a period is normal, and bleeding is not a common sign of pregnancy.
- Periods that are a few days late, are lighter, heavier, brown, red, a few days early..these are all normal periods. An abnormal period is a period with excessive pain, bleeding that lasts more than 7 days, or is so heavy that you have to change pads or tampons every 1-2 hours (instead of every 4 hours).

Let us know how long until you expect your period!
