The answers to your questions really are personal preference, and hopefully this does help you feel confident that whatever you choose is a good choice! If you are worried about fitting-in at school, you can "do as the Romans do" and dress similarly to other girls your age..or you can "make a statement" and be different. As you can imagine, you will receive different responses depending on your choices! Same with make-up and other personal choices.
As far as how often to shower, it also depends on your physical activity level. Many teenagers will shower daily, especially if they are involved in any type of sports or other exercise/physical activity during the day or evening.
If you are interested in what "most" teenage girls use during their periods, it depends on your personal preference and comfort, in your choice between pads and tampons. Girls who swim during their period will most likely wear a tampon, but some girls do not like the feeling or are too nervous or have cultural beliefs that prevent them from using a tampon...which all is perfectly fine! Many girls and woman like to wear pads as they are more comfortable. Probably most/many girls and woman use a combination: tampon during the day (if you choose) and a pad at night.
