Kraebel,

Thanks so much for your update. You are doing exactly the right thing -- going step by step with your doctor to figure out what's up here.

When you say your walls are very thick, do you mean the walls of your ovary, or the walls of your uterus?

Was the test through the vagina perhaps a colposcopy?

Kraebel, one of the things I've learned through doing this job is that while doctors may have theories and possibilities about what could be going on with their patients, they rarely are certain. They go through the tests to rule things out and in, and as they get some answers -- some yes, some no -- THEN they get closer to figuring out what truly can be going on. The truth is that there are so many things that can cause symptoms that they don't want to go in with pre-existing theory. That might cause them to miss something.

So at this point, your doctor is gathering facts. He wants to see Pap smear results, to see what that may tell him. He already knows you have cysts in your ovaries and that you have too much bleeding going on; now he's concerned with getting a complete picture. Cancer may be a possiblity, of course, but so might other things -- fibroids, polyps, endometriosis, and so on.

If a colposcopy is what he is planning to do on 12/30, here is some information about that, including what you can expect at the doctor's office:

Is that the test your dr. mentioned?
