Thank you for your question Yollonnda. The dreaded urinary tract infections or (bladder infections) can certainly be uncomfortable and painful. Yes, apple cider vinegar is helpful in flushing your urinary tract and is a known home remedy.

As I have used this before, this is my personal opinion on how to incorporate apple cider vinegar into your drinks. First, drink 8 oz. (about a half of a regular glass) of water every hour for about 4 hours. Urinate as soon as you feel the urge. I know it may be painful but the longer you keep urine in the bladder, the more susceptible the bacteria is to flourish in your bladder.

After you have urinated a few times, add two teaspoons of apple vinegar into your 8 oz. glass of water and keep this going for several hours. This should clear out the bacteria.

Another thing that will help with the pain of urination is an over the counter pill called Azo-Gesic. This will cause your urine to discolor to like an orange color but will relieve the pain of urinating. The best source is cranberry juice though (about a quart a day). You should also drink water during this time, again 8 oz. every hour). Taking Vitamin C tablets will help eliminate the bacteria as well. The Mayo Clinic indicates that avoiding sexual intercourse and carbonated drinks (including alcohol) will help cure the bacterial inflection as well.

Trying to clear the infection yourself by flushing out the bladder is helpful but if pain persists, you should contact a physician immediately as an anti-biotic may be necessary.

I hope this helps. Please keep us updated.
