Dear Anon,

I am very sorry you are going through this right now-- I have been in your shoes before. I know you're measuring around 6 weeks but since you have had an ultrasound already, may I ask how far along you should be? By six weeks, a fetal pole should already be found.

I am wondering why your doctor would give you Methotrexate without being sure that you had an ectopic pregnancy. It is a very powerful drug which should never be given to a pregnant woman. Did he or she run additional hcg blood tests as well as ultrasounds prior to giving you the shot? Or were these 3 ultrasounds done afterwards?

Unfortunately, many times when we miscarriage we bleed but sometimes we don't. For those of us who don't a procedure called Dilation and Curettage, or D & C, will be done. The procedure involves scraping and collecting of the tissue from inside the uterus and is an outpatient surgical procedure.

I wish you the very best and if this pregnancy is unviable, I am truly sorry but if there is one thing I can tell you from having gone through a miscarriage myself is that it truly does help you appreciate the meaning of life and when you do have a baby, that baby will be your rainbow after the rain.
