Hi Macstone,

Thank you for your question.

Botox is a relatively new form of treatment for vaginismus, having been used since 1997. Botox has the capability of relaxing muscles and also relieving painful conditions with a wide range of uses. Although it is not yet FDA approved, neither are most uses given to botox these days. Physicians use it as an "off label" drug for this very reason-- meaning, botox was not initially intended for vaginismus but has been found to be effective in treating it.

I have no personal experience with this, so I hope you get a response from someone who does. For more information on the actual procedure, which also involves the use of a dilator, please read: http://www.plasticsurgerypa.com/index.cfm?event=CategoryView&CategoryID=51 Also note that the site is a plastic surgery site and is very one-sided for botox with vaginismus.

Good luck, hope to see more posts on your thread soon.
