There's an easy way to tell if it's probably an allergy. Take one antihistimine tablet, like Benydryl allergy, the next time this starts. If the antihistimine stops the itching, you know that an allergy is probably the cause. If the antihistimine doesn't stop the itching, then there's another explanation.
