It could be a lot of things. Many, many lumps in our breasts turn out to be benign. But it's really important to get this checked out. And the fact that you have a rash and that it is hot to the touch means it's twice as important to see a doctor.

The biggest likelihood is that the lump is not breast cancer. But there is a specific kind of breast cancer called inflammatory breast cancer that has some of the symptoms you are describing. I don't want to alarm you for no good reason, but the reason I'm even bringing up IBC is that IBC moves quickly.

Do you have a doctor, an ob/gyn? Can you call and make an appointment? Just go and let the doctor see the area, feel the lump and determine whether you need a mammogram or ultrasound to check it out further, all right? Could you do that?
