Thanks for sharing this! I have had bouts of pain on and off for over a year due to piriformis syndrome. Stretching does help me but only as long as I don't sit too much. I was just debating whether to get out the low table I put on my desk so I can stand while working (I'm a graphic designer) and reading this convinced me that I shouldn't put it off. And, like you, I always have to bring pillows with me. I turn in the heated seats in my car even in summer, so I won't cramp up while driving. Good luck with you pain!
