I am 57years old and last year i was diagnosed with breast cancer, underwent a double mastectomy and two weeks later I had 10 lymph nodes removed from my right side as one of the first three lymph nodes the took when they took the breast was cancerous. None of the 10 had cancerous. Yeah!!!!!! I have been recovering since then, I went through chemotherapy and radiation after my mastectomy and other surgery. Before I was diagnosed I was told by my regular doctor I had osteopenia . I have taken a calcium supplement for several years + D. Now recently with check-ups they have told me I have osteoporosis. My doctor prescribed Alendronate 70 mgs, which I took for the first time this morning. I should have started this regimen last week but I was scared to take it, I thought it would make me physically sick. After taking it I decided to check this med out for side effects and stumbled on to this sight. The chemo was the cause of the osteoporosis and now I'm afraid of what this med will cause, after reading the horrific stories about people taking these meds . I am quite aware about side effects that some drugs can cause but doctors don't always share this information. I can tell already that my hip bones hurt when I walk any distance . Scared !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
