Hi ginham,
When was the date of your last menstrual period?

To answer your question: yes, woman can have a late (or even miss!) a period during a cycle and this can be completely normal and related to excess stress, new medication, sudden weight changes, birth control, recent illness, underlying medical condition or unknown factors.

If you miss your period, and you have been having unprotected sex, the most common reason for a missed period is pregnancy, so be sure to take a home pregnancy test after you have missed your expected period.

The symptoms of an upcoming period and symptoms of early pregnancy are almost identical, so it makes it very difficult to know what each symptom means...and woman can most certainly "talk themselves" into it being either situation. The only way to know for sure if you are experiencing PMS is to rule out a pregnancy with a home pregnancy test (it won't be effective until you've actually missed your period and/or its been about 14 days since your last unprotected intercourse day).
